1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy describes how Neul ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our cloud deployment platform at https://neul.io (the "Service"). We are operated by an individual based in the Netherlands.

2. Information We Collect

Account information:

  • Email address (provided at signup or via GitHub OAuth)
  • Name (provided at signup or from your GitHub profile)
  • GitHub account ID, username, and avatar (if you connect GitHub)

Payment information:

  • Payments are processed by Polar (polar.sh). We do not store your credit card number or payment details. We store a checkout reference ID to link your purchase to your account.

Usage information:

  • We collect anonymous usage analytics via PostHog to understand how the product is used and improve it. This includes page views, feature usage, and general interaction patterns.
  • We do not track personal data in analytics.

Technical information:

  • Activity logs of actions you take on the platform (e.g., "project created", "deployment started") for debugging and support purposes. These logs describe actions, not content.
  • Error reports via Sentry for identifying and fixing bugs.

3. Information We Do Not Collect

  • We do not access the contents of your deployed applications or containers except where required for maintenance, security, or legal compliance.
  • We do not read your source code. GitHub access is limited to cloning repositories for builds.
  • We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.
  • We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.

4. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide and operate the Service (authentication, builds, deployments)
  • To process payments via Polar
  • To send you transactional emails (magic link login, important service updates)
  • To improve the product based on anonymous usage patterns
  • To provide customer support
  • To detect and prevent abuse of the platform

5. Cookies

We use a single httpOnly session cookie for authentication. This cookie is essential for the Service to function and cannot be disabled. We do not use third-party cookies, advertising cookies, or cross-site tracking cookies.

6. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

  • Polar (polar.sh) — payment processing. Subject to Polar's privacy policy.
  • GitHub — repository access and OAuth login. Subject to GitHub's privacy policy.
  • Resend — transactional emails (magic link login).
  • PostHog — anonymous product analytics.
  • Sentry — error tracking and monitoring.
  • AWS — infrastructure (compute, storage, secrets management). Your deployed applications run on AWS infrastructure in the EU (Ireland) region.
  • Turso — database hosting.

7. Data Storage

Your account data is stored in Turso (EU). Your deployed applications and container images are hosted on AWS in the EU (Ireland) region. Environment variable secrets are stored in AWS Secrets Manager. We retain your data for as long as your account is active.

8. Data Deletion

You can delete your account at any time from the Settings page. This permanently removes all your data including projects, builds, environments, deployments, and secrets. This action is irreversible.

9. Your Rights

Under GDPR and Dutch privacy law, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate personal data
  • Request deletion of your personal data
  • Object to or restrict processing of your data
  • Data portability

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users via email or a notice on the platform. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
